She came back from Denver after a year, we started actually going on dates and testing the waters of being more than friends. We finally started dating on July 18th 2010 and I have been happy even since. Description: More than 50 Soldiers of the Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, arrived home in time to spend the holidays with loved ones. The Soldiers were welcomed home during a redeployment ceremony Dec. 13 with hugs, cheers and smiles. Brittnee Dicks waited patiently in the stands for nearly an hour for the arrival of her husband, Spc. Ian Dicks. Ian deployed on Christmas Eve the previous year, and Brittnee said she looked forward to having him join her for the holidays this season. She recalled the day she received a phone call informing her that her husband was on his way home. She was at work and said she felt ecstatic after receiving the information. “It feels awesome. I was so scared that they weren’t going to have him home in time for the holiday,” she said. Unbeknownst to her, Capt. Tanya Rosa had a special welcome home surprise waiting for her at the ceremony, in the form of a diamond engagement ring. Capt. Juan Roman, also of DHHB, proposed just moments after welcoming his new fiancée home from Iraq. “I was nervous all day,” he said. “I think she said, ‘yes.’ But in all this excitement, I may need her to clarify her answer later.” Col. Kevin Brown, Fort Riley garrison commander, addressed the Soldiers and Families and commended the unit’s Soldiers on a job well done while deployed. “This was a remarkable rotation for the 1st Infantry Division Headquarters. The first since the modularization of the 1st Inf. Div., and they saw to a mission that saw great transition in Iraq,” Brown said. He commended the Soldiers on their successes during the deployment including the transition from operating under Operation Iraq Freedom to Operation New Dawn and the oversight of Iraq’s general elections in March. “They are all significant steps forward as Iraq takes control of its own destiny. Your team that is out here on the field today played a huge role in that, but it didn’t come without sacrifices,” Brown said.
